Youth

When kids hit double digits in age, the craziness can double, too. From homework to hormones, it might be easier for kids to hide in a cocoon until high school graduation, hoping to emerge a butterfly. It's hard work to become an adult rooted in faith, ready to serve, and poised to enter college or begin a career.

At FPC, 410 Youth is about creating a safe place for students to figure stuff out. Relationships. Family. School. Self-image. God. Service. And it's about fun - lots and lots of crazy fun!

SUNDAY MORNINGS (9:45 - 10:45 a.m.)

Grades 6 & 7: Sunday School
Grade 8: Confirmation Class
Grades 9-12: Sunday School

410: SUNDAY NIGHTS (6:00 - 8:00 p.m.)

James 4:10: “Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
410 is a safe and casual environment for youth grades 6-12 to ask questions, learn about Jesus, and be part of a loving church family. A buffet-style dinner is served at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Hall (it costs $1, but tastes like we should charge more!), followed by contemporary-style worship. Most nights, middle school and high school groups meet separately after dinner. Worship is followed by a biblical message and games or group discussion. Drop-off and pick-up are at the front entry portico.

MIDWEEK

Wacky Wednesdays: Middle School
Each Wednesday, drop off your middle schooler at the church for a wacky adventure to a secret destination from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.. Activities change each week and may have an entry fee.

Wednesday Night Bible Study: High School
7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the church (room location varies)

D-Group: High School

In D-Group, students serious about growing in Christ gather with their group leader for a meal, Bible study and scripture learning, reading of Christian books, accountability, and prayer support. Our eight D-Groups gather by gender and school grade, and stay together for the duration of high school (i.e. all freshman boys together). Groups meet weekly in homes on the best day/time for the majority of the group, and students commit to attend unless they are out of town.

ANNUAL EVENTS AND SERVICE PROJECTS

SharpTop Cove Retreat Weekend: All youth entering 6th – 12th grade
Held in August; located one hour north in Jasper, GA
FPC’s youth combine with three to five other local church youth groups for a weekend packed with worship, great Bible teaching, zip lining, water slides, rock climbing, swimming, sports, and yummy food. For more on SharpTop Cove, visit sharptopcove.younglife.org.

Collide: All youth 6th – 12th grade
Often held in February, Collide weekend provides students an opportunity to worship together at church and serve together in the community. Guys and girls stay separately by age group in host homes, where planned activities and discussion take place.

Road Rules: Middle School
Each June, students in grades 6 through 8 take off on a driving trip, destination unknown. To clarify, the kids don’t drive, the bus driver does – we’re not that crazy! Each day the youth arrive in a new destination to serve in the community.

Spring Break Mission Trip: High School Juniors and Seniors
In March or April of each year, juniors and seniors travel overseas to serve on a mission trip. Once students sign up for the trip and put down a deposit, they find out where they’re going. We do it this way because we want students to go on the trip because they feel called to go, not to see a certain travel destination.

Summer Mission Trip: High School
In May or June, our high school students have the opportunity to serve on a Summer Mission Trip. The location varies, but is usually domestic.

Ski Trip: High School
Held over winter break each year. Destination varies.
