Care and Support

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

At one time or another, every person needs a little extra care and support. This page of our website is dedicated to letting our members know how the church body can come around you and love on you in difficult times.

I need to talk things through with someone who will really listen…

So much in life can sideline us: illness, grief, job loss, financial crisis, aging, separation or divorce, loneliness, birth or adoption, spiritual crisis… sometimes we just need someone to talk to about it all. Trained Stephen Ministers are ready to provide you with distinctively Christian one-on-one caregiving as you deal with any life difficulty or transition. Stephen Ministers are available every Sunday in Room 243 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., or at any time by request.

To request a Stephen Minister or to serve as one, contact Claire Francis at (770) 427-3606 or Rev. Denise Beltzner at (770) 427-0293 x238.

I am in a career transition / help, I need a job!…

Whether you need support in the practical aspects of finding a job (like networking and resume writing), or are struggling with the emotional side of job loss (like dealing with bitterness and discouragement or financial and marital strain caused by prolonged unemployment), FPC’s Career Transitions ministry would like to come alongside you through the process.

I have a prayer request or something great to celebrate…

A committed group of prayer partners prays over the concerns of FPC’s members, staff, friends, neighbors, leaders, government, teachers, and missionaries every week. Requests are kept confidential unless you give permission for them to be printed in our weekly Prayer Flyer. FPC also offers beautiful shawls, wraps, lap blankets hand-made and prayed over by volunteers, for those in need of encouragement during difficult times, health or otherwise.

Submit prayer requests directly to Rev. Denise Beltzner here. Request a prayer shawl by contacting Kelly Estrada.

I’d like someone to check in with me every now and then…

You need a Shepherd! At FPC, it is our goal that every member of the church receive a phone call or email every month from their Shepherd, a caring person who asks how things are going, checks in on prayer needs or praise reports, and shares major church news and upcoming events.

To request a Shepherd or to be a Shepherd, contact Kelly Estrada at (770) 427-0293 x241.

I could use some short-term help with practical needs…

Members of FPC’s Martha Ministry are our church’s helping hands. They help with rides to the doctor, meals after hospitalization, trips to the grocery store, light household handy-work and chores, and yard work. Whether you are recovering from illness or celebrating a new baby, Martha Ministers want to show you God’s love in action!

If you are in need of a Martha Minister, please contact Kelly Estrada at (770) 427-0293 x241.

We are currently in need of helpers to serve as Martha Ministers. Please contact Kelly Estrada at (770) 427-0293 x241.

I would welcome an encouraging hospital or home visit…

Whether you and your family need spiritual support surrounding a hospital stay or you would simply enjoy some lively conversation in your home, FPC has a team of volunteers and pastors who would be honored to visit you.

To request a visit, contact Kelly Estrada at (770) 427-0293 x241.

I need to get control of my finances or make a plan for the future…

FPC’s Financial Ministry offers training through Crown Financial Ministries (crown.org) in what the Bible says about money, our attitude toward money, and sound financial principles. Volunteer budget counselors/coaches are available to meet with you free of charge to guide you as you get out of debt and/or learn to manage the funds and resources God has provided to you. FPC’s financial advisors are also trained in estate planning.

To meet with a financial advisor, contact Lee Pence at (770) 428-9350.

My divorce is taking over my life…

Divorce can be one of the most devastating experiences in an individual’s life. The process of recovery presents many challenges on emotional, psychological, family, and financial levels. At FPC, our Life After Divorce workshops, offered periodically, cover a variety of topics to help you deal constructively and positively with these challenges so that recovery is possible. God has so much in store for your life!

For divorce care, contact Rev. Denise Beltzner at (770) 427-0293 x238.

I am grieving the loss of a loved one…

There is nothing logical about the grief process. Loved ones come to mind at the oddest of moments, and you may find yourself angry or crying just when you thought you were feeling better. Give yourself lots of grace to grieve in your own way, and reach out to some loving people for care and support. FPC offers Grief Support Groups periodically, and our Stephen Ministers are here to offer a listening ear any time.

To meet with a Stephen Minister, contact Claire Francis at (770) 427-3606. Contact Rev. Denise Beltzner at (770) 427-0293 x238 for information about a Grief Support Group.
